I attended another auction Saturday (real estate) but had other items as well. The old green holders were on display mostly Peace, Morgan MS 64 in OGS rattler and other graded in the newer cases. I read the posts back in 2019 or so here in coin talk before attending. Well, the same graded coin in OGH did sell higher than the ones graded in the newer holders. I was told (buy the coin not the holder or label). I have not done any crack out games with my OGH. As the thread stated it's been done SEVERAL times looking for a better grade and or cac sticker. Well, I went against buy the coin not the label and purchased a few..... broke the golden rule I did, so after that long boring story my question is. Do you know how many grades the coin jumps when cracked out and sent in for regrade? on average....one or two grade??? WILL be improper grammar so IGNORE IT SRRY.

    Not all coins get upgrades.
Pics of the coins would definitely help.

PS, I'd would rather have the OGH, even if it is worthy of a crack out.

No camera, just phone best I can do. That's reason I don't post pic too much.

Leave them as they are. 25 years from now you won’t regret it. I sure don’t. And not all coins will grade higher. Some grade the same and others actually grade lower. The Dime with the sample label is nice. I have two sample slabs.

Also, the sample slab will lose value, keep it as a sample

For the most part that’s true, but different holders and TPG,S demand
different money, for example ANACS or
IGC holders are way less desirable and
valuable for the exact coin, in comparison to PCGS and NGC, to take
that one step farther I have seen higher
prices for PCGS holders then NGC, that’s
why I will only buy coins graded by PCGS

    so it does matter :)

So do I as a matter of fact.

To my eyes, that Morgan looks accurately graded. I don't think that one will upgrade. There might even be the risk of it losing a point.

If you want to hedge your bets, send the Morgan and Columbian to CAC. If they bean, it might be worth playing the upgrade roulette wheel. If they don't bean, you've preserved the existing grade and desirable slab.

    But what the heck do I know . . . .

They look accurately graded to me, cant see why the Columbian got the 62. I don't find the sample slabs very often unless you go to a show.

I think the OGH's people are fawning over are the rattlers...with out the barcode.

    But I'd leave them be.
Nice additions and the sample slab is a bonus.

Many of the coins that remain in OGH's haven't been cracked out because they likely will not up-grade. Buy the coin and not the holder is still the rule at least IMO.

I'd stick with the OGH unless an upgrade will result in a quantum increase in $$$ value of the coin.

I'm surprised an auctioneer or estate seller would know that an OGH should command a premium.:wideyed:

Don’t underestimate the knowledge of either especially the auctioneer who’s job is to get the highest price for their client.
