No love for modern US commemoratives, why?

    Why would they, the best store I know of locally will pay around 95-97% of spot, changes daily and its even lower on weekends…..many will only pay between 60-80%…They need to keep the lights on.

    Here's my second commemorative set! I figure you can't go wrong with the gold commemoratives as they will always be worth the POG but may not be as popular as pre-33 or bullion. That said, gold is gold! :D

    Perhaps because the things they commemorate seldom are worthy to be commemorated, much as was the case in the classic era. I don't collect either the classics or the modern.

    95-97% is fine (though if it's less than 1 ounce already -- Saints/Liberty's -- they are already benefitting).

    Someone offering to pay 60-80% of spot in what is essentially a riskless transaction is not looking to do business at that rate or really wants to rip off an unsuspecting customer. :mad:

    Or they're a pawn shop. But perhaps that's redundant with your last point.
