No they don't. I think as long as you don't sell them gold valued at over $10,000? It's either $10K or $7K, then they don't issue you a 1099. The total for shipping + insurance was $20. To me that's not bad at all compared to the HUGE ripoff I would have gotten if I sold locally...

Actually I was referring to the pawn shops in my city that rip people off buy giving only 50%-60% of spot for gold coins. The local coin dealers do way much better than that. Don't sell gold at pawn shops. The local coin dealers are much better to sell gold coins at than the pawn shops. The best place IMO to sell gold coins is ebay. I have never sold any gold coins on ebay but I have look at prices for certain gold coins and at least you probably would get most of the premium back if you sold on ebay.

 

I think that the limit is $10,000 where it triggers a 1099 but I am not completely sure on that.
