Your question bothers me. Nobody here is qualified to tell you where the price of gold is going. Presumably, the vast majority of us are here because we own gold and believe it is going higher. So asking here is a little like asking the barber if you need a haircut. Like the stock market, it is something you need to study and learn for your self. Otherwise, you will always be at the mercy of the opinions of others who may or may not know anything, and who may or may not have your best interest at heart.

Gold is difficult to grade, and I am not a professional grader. That said, it appears to be weakly struck and to be no better than VG.

Cloud, I'm a bit bothered by a tinge of disdain and negativity of others' opinions found in the threads that you expressed in your post. You might as well start posting your message in about every forum and online discussion there is if you feel this way. How are you so certain that at any moment someone better informed than those currently present won't join the discussion and begin giving a more objective perspective than may or may not have been provided thus far. As far as I can see, Fret suffered no harm by his inquiries nor mistook any misguided advice so far and he's no worse for having done so here or elsewhere. Each has to ask their questions and seek their answers where they know best to start, be that from their financial adviser, an economics professor, a barber shop, mechanic, their parents, friends, colleagues, or a coin forum of variously informed strangers.

If you are not going to allow people to openly ask questions and allow them to hear a variety of responses without cautioning them away from those same responses you personally disagree with then why are you here? Opinions are just that, the views of others, not always right nor fully incorrect. Each must weigh the advice they receive from others for themselves as only they know themselves best. Certainly no one knows where the price of PMs or stocks will go, but hearing what others feel may provide a consensus reply or open other channels of thoughts for the inquirer to consider. These are open forums, perspectives given, right or wrong, tend to work themselves out. Several people tend to rise to the top in sorting out fact from fiction and show themselves to be the most objective and free thinkers present allowing others to decide for themselves. I tend to find you often fit the bill in this regard. Given that, I'm sorry to see that'd you'd so generally choose to admonish the perspectives and even the inquiries of others.

Information is out there for those who seek it, read it, and digest it for themselves. Sometimes putting forth the simplest initial questions helps them initiate that quest or quench a concern they felt they should be aware of based on recent news and events. For those who come here and gather views, links and information then go elsewhere and study and read more will continue to ask more and in turn to learn the answers to the questions that most concern them about any topic. I for one didn't know of Graham and his book before I began reading/participating in these threads. After having done further digging in older threads hoping to learn more about related topics, I've also picked up Creature from Jekyll Island out of curiosity. I like what you have to say even if you remain a stranger to me. Fret's a fun guy too and I've crossed his posts, enjoy his humor and like the coins he shares here. There's a lot to be learned here and a heck of a lot of noise to filter out but that's true of anything, even sitting in some classrooms.

The emotion you read into my post exists purely in your imagination. My post was directly solely to the question and not to any of the responses. When someone new comes along and basically asks "what should I do?", my first response will always be to learn enough about the bullion market to form your own investment opinions so that you don't rely on the people here, including myself, for advice. That is why I directed you to the Graham book instead of offering specific suggestions. Others might offer different opinions, and everyone can decide for themselves what to do and who to believe.

Sorry Cloud, but your wrong about my "imagination" in regards to my interpretation of your post. Its good to have your personal reinforcement of your position, as is commonly found in your posts, however posting for the benefit of another member based on their inquiry to be wary of the advice of others through your own 'emotionless' admonition, is making a comment about others' replies without giving your own answer to his question(s).

Fret's not new to these forums, perhaps he is to you if you haven't seen him around CT or in the bullion threads as frequently as others that come here to post thoughts and information. Fret was soliciting opinions not asking what he personally should do with advice from others per your assumption of his intent. He asked:

"would you say it's best to buy gold right now or sell?"

"if someone does buy gold today do you think they can still make a profit?"

"do you think gold is gonna go higher like to $1500?"

Seems his little bundle of questions in regards to gold can all be answered with one word each: Buy/Sell, Yes/No, and Yes/No. Certainly, a caveat to those answers could be included since it's not always so black and white of an issue, but you didn't offer any opinions per his inquiry. Instead you cautioned him on the replies from others as if he wouldn't already know to do that himself. Had he asked should I trust the replies to my inquries I get on forums or the advice on stocks and PMs my barber gives me, perhaps then your reply would have been on point.

Funny that you excused your grading abilities on Fret's coin and yet gave that a go... but you didn't do the same with offering your opinions about the direction of gold per his inquiry. I for one gave him no advice on PMs, as I also believe what you say about the advice of others and I fully agree that no one can assuredly tell us the direction PMs will take. In my own reply to Fret, I suggested he take his coin to the coin forums for more varied and on topic replies in the assessment of his gold coin because that portion of the question(s) was out of place here.
