I have just come back from the New York show and I have to say that I really enjoyed my time at this event. One can spend a full week just doing numismatic related activities. I went to a number of the auctions, visited the ANS, spent my time at the show and even met a few members of this community. I must say that I really do enjoy this event. My only gripe is that it is held in January. Whats wrong with May? or the fall? I did not find my hotel to be unreasonable. I spent about $1200 for flights plus 8 days at the hotel and I am basically one block north of the venue. Because the venue is right close to Grand Central Station there are plenty of different places to eat at any budget.

There were at least 100 dealers at the show. Most of the name US dealers were there plus some of the Europeans. The price range was impressive ranging from $200,000 to something like $50 and there were many thousands of coins to look at. I wandered around the room and found a number of very nice coins one of which has been on my want list ever since I started collecting Greek coins. Out of the 12 coins I bought at this event I suspect that perhaps half of them will be in my top ten for 2019. I would certainly recommend this event to anyone interested in ancients medieval or early modern coins. My new Lokri Opuntii Stater
