    How old are those planchets, does the mint only buy for the upcoming year? Or are hose planchets from years past inventory? I just think about gouging laws..

    If they tried to sell them at anything lower than spot, they'd be snatched up instantly for resale to refineries.

    My opinion: bullion proofs is marketing horsepucky for the suckers. I have a few from years ago. I book value them at spot. I will gladly let the suckers pay a proof premium for them…
