I have been dreaming of going on a gold mining/panning expedition since I was 10 years old and still haven't got to it.

 

You forgot about the main ingredient...how much gold is in the piece ((baring a specimen)
Good example of how much gold is in this HUGE nugget. almost covers the moon.

This is my thinnest piece of gold, a gold leaf and it’s small.

 

I don't understand. What measurement is a "guarded?"

Living on a mining claim with a year around creek, I don't even bother panning. After the first year here, I spent an entire day panning and had less than three colors in the pan, so unless I trip over a nugget, I'm happy with my coins.

 

It’s a slightly older thread that was raised again. Spell check must have changed that from a quarter ounce to guarded.

 

I figured as much and was being a bit factious. LOL
