You know, the price rose well before Covid...from about $1,200 to $1,600 or so. Then Covid took it another $400 or so. So from my perspective, buying at below $1,800 an ounce isn't a bad purchase, especially if you are going to buy more later. Grab one here...if gold goes higher and/or on a sustained run....you bought cheap. If it goes $200 lower (I doubt it), then grab another one cheaper, sort of like dollar-cost averaging.
I like your style. I’m trying to figure out how to get my feet wet without drowning. I set up a login with Heritage Auctions, but I can’t afford anything I like there. Lol. Jk.
Try AMEX, it’s my go to for the best selection at a fair price, also there’s liberty coin galleries in Huntington Beach, Ca, even better prices bet less selection but it would be a good place to get your feet wet
Thanks I’ll look at those. I’m probably the only person in the USA without an EBay or Amazon account so I’ll probably end up buying from someone reputable.
Be patient...that's your best friend in getting quality at a good price. GC and even Ebay (depending on the coin you want) can be competitive. There's also local coin shops (LCS) and coin shows. Are you looking to just get a single Liberty DE as a type collector, or are you looking to get a few or even more ?
I’m new and window shopping. Can’t see me setting up an EBay account at this point, but I’m cataloguing the options.
Yes,i did ...LOL, I live on my America express so very easy for me to mix up the initials, so I apologize to the thread
Some will not agree, but the buy it now option on the bay is not the best, think about it, the seller has to pay huge fees which in turn they pass on to you, for me Ebay is a last resort, but if they have something I want bad enough I would be willing to pay extra, this recent pick up fits that to a tee
I was actually looking For a 1987 Krugerrand to honor the year I got married 1987 but select date Krugerrands can be beyond tough another tough year Is 2001 may have to go that route again…$$$$
I'm doing my own DD on the Liberty DEs, but mostly yearly reviews and historical with some price-shopping for later in 2023 when I (hopefully) add one. But I remember waiting 5 years to buy my 1923-D Saint-Gaudens DE and even my 1st Saint, a 1924 MS-65, I believe I researched a year or more before pulling the trigger. Good luck, and feel free to ask any questions. This community has helped me a ton over the years.
Probably true in most cases, but ya never know. Coin dealers that just happen to sell online too will be more competitive. Apmex, ModernCoinMart, and DL Lawrence have some competitive stuff.
