I'm still going with my 2nd prognostication as shown above.

In for a penny, in for a pound. ;)

@lordmarcovan I bet you were a camp counselor in your youth. :) If not, you should have been.

I was briefly a CIT (counselor in training) at YMCA Camp Hope in NC, one summer in my youth. :)

OK, there's ten replies since Roll 4 was announced.

I would now upload the preview photo of the edges of the coins, except I accidentally deleted it.

So I'll have to leave y'all in suspense.

Will have to read back through, but I don't think we have a winner yet, with any of the predictions posted so far. I saw some folks who were close.

Tell y'all what. It is after 3:30 AM here right now, and I am not working graveyard shift tonight, so I'm gonna go off to sleep.

That gives everybody who wants to a chance to tweak their predictions. Or post a new one, if you're just joining us. Latecomers can win, too.

If nobody has a winning prediction by the time I return, we go into "booby prize" mode and I'll have to figure out who had the closest prediction.

But I've decided to sweeten the booby prize, so somebody besides me is gonna win some silver, regardless.

One hint, since I mistakenly deleted the "edges" photo of Roll 5. I will mention that all of the edges of those coins had a uniform coloration, and matched each other.

You have until I return to make of that what you will.

So here then is my final guess. Fingers crossed and wishing luck to everyone.
    40% - 4
    90% - 3
    Bicentennial - 17

    Updating my count....

    90% = 1
    40% = 1
    1976 = 18

Side note m'lord, I'm guessing you still have the coins from roll 5, right? The coins in the deleted pic could just as easily have posed for a new pic ;) Just sayin'.

I still have some of them, but the lot got mixed back together and I spent three rolls yesterday.

I could have reshot the edge picture easily enough, but there was no point. As suggested in the rather heavy hint I gave in my last post, the coins of Roll 5 were all clads.

Let me now go back to see if we actually have a winner, though I do not believe anyone nailed it exactly.

You are close, @masterswimmer. You obviously caught the hint and now know that no more silver was found, so you are correct on the silver totals. Only one of each silver type was found. You are slightly off on the total of Bicentennials, however.

But close. Was anyone else closer? Maybe. I'll go check.

But first, the results of the final roll...

Roll #5 was, as mentioned, all clad coins. Again, one can't expect a silver lining every time. Would have been nice, but hey, this is a reality show.

There was but a single, solitary Bicentennial in this final roll.

    So, to wrap things up...

    Roll 1 results
    Roll 2 results
    Roll 3 results
    Roll 4 results

    ROLL 5 RESULTS:

    (0) 90% silver
    (0) 40% silver
    (1) clad Bicentennials

    GRAND TOTAL (ALL 5 ROLLS):

    (1) 90% silver
    (1) 40% silver
    (15) clad Bicentennials

There we have it, folks. Let's review, to see if anyone won. If not, we'll see who came close.

    Thanks for playin'! :)

    OK, nobody nailed it exactly.

But some came close, and @Kasia was very close and is thus the winner of the "booby prize".

Congratulations, @Kasia! You were just one coin too optimistic on the 90% silver total, and nailed it on the other two types.

I promised one of my new elongated Wheat cents as a "booby prize", but I'm upgrading you to the full 3-piece set. That way you'll get some silver out of it, too. :)

Considering that our winner, if there had been one, would have been entitled to half the silver value found (half of $9.83 rounds up to $4.47), and I usually sell those elongated coin sets for ten bucks, it's an upgrade. Besides, you'll get a tangible piece of silver yourself that way, with the elongated Mercury dime in that set. Send me a PM to remind me of your shipping address.

If anybody else wants a shot at winning one of those sets, I'm giving away two more here (the drawing is a day and a half away as I post this).

Nope. I am rather pleased, actually. Pretty good results for such a relatively small sample size.

Maybe one day I can get a box of 'em, and we can do this again. How many come to a box? I probably couldn't afford to remove that much from my living expenses for the week or so it would take to search them.

Or I could maybe adapt this game to nickels or quarters, somehow, later. Not so much with hunting silver, but by way of filling holes in an album, perhaps. From circulation. It's an idea.

Something like @DatDareNickelGuy is doing here, maybe, but "gamified", with audience participation, like we did here.

A box of halves or quarters is $500. Dimes are $250, and nickels are $100.

Thanks. I guess if I had 500 bucks lying around in the bank (ha! likely scenario!), my credit union might order a box for me?

Ain't gonna happen, most likely, but some CRH for nickels and quarters might work.
