I have a few around but really do not know much about them.
Can you guys bring me up to speed on key dates on all these, and about what those go for, and why they are keys and stuff like that. I am sure I am not the only one who would benefit from a bunch of good info on eagles.
go in any direction with this but here are a few things you may want touch on:
Is it better to get slabbed or with gov't box eagles?
anyone collect just one size (like quarter oz plat or 1/10 oz gold or something like that)?
any tips on how to spot what will be a key?
do they usually sell the limit on those proof gold and plat eagles (have the mintage limits changed over the years)?
Any thoughts on these W mintmark unc eagles, this may be a good time to start a set?
just stuff like that, and anything else of interest.

    Danr:
    I have a bunch of ASE's and 1/10 oz AGE's.

Not a consistent collection, I kinda fell into them.

In the ASE: the 1996 is a better date, $70 to $100.
The 1986 is a little bit better at $25.
    All others are at silver.

in the 1/10 oz: only the 1988 and 1991 are better.

What you must consider is that the ASE and AGE program has been around for 21 to 22 years now, so there are quite a few bullion coins that now have numismatic appeal to them. As for the gold, it is my opinion that the 1/2 and 1/4 ounce fractionals are the most note worthy of them all. A collection of 1/2 ounce coins from 1986 to present would be very nice to have, if you can afford it!
The keys are the 1/2 oz 1989, 1990 and 1991 and these three coins alone will cost you close to 2.5K. Then you have the 1/4 oz and then the 1/10th oz with the 1988 and 1991 being the key. If you consider the 2006 "W" burnished die from last year into the set's then it will be the ultimate key in the future in the three fractional denominations.
I am also of the opinion that American Eagle Gold coins will be a numismatic
interest for future collector's as time warrant's their rise to fame.

DO not forget the 2 (two) 1999 "W" error AGE in uncirc 1/10th and 1/4 oz fractionals. This truly was the first time a Uncirculated AGE bore the "W" mint mark due to the unpolished proof die's beinhg used by mistake. These are valuable coins and I would buy them first before any others if it were me.

As of recent here is general pricing; You may find them for less if you do buy them.

ASE; The Proof 1995 W is by far the most expensive ~ 4500.00
The Uncirc key is the 1996 and it ranges from 60- 125 depending on grade.

    AGE
    1/2 oz AGE 1991 Unc MS-68 (1275.00 MS-69 1350.00)
    1/2 oz AGE 1990 Unc MS-69 (750-800.00)
1/2 oz AGE 1989 Unc MS-69 (no recent activity) est 625.00
    1/2 oz AGE 2006 "W" Burnished die (650-775.00)

    1/4 oz AGE 1991 Unc MS-69 450-525.00
1/4 oz AGE 1999 Unc (made from unpolished proof dies) 725.00 -875.00

    1/10 oz AGE 1988 Unc MS-69 225-250.00

    2006 "W" 3 piece 1 oz 20th Anv Set..~ 6K

The APE (Platinum) is another story altogether.
Several key's here 2004 Proofs are hard to come by in any denomination I think the 1/10th oz is going for 850-900.00.
The 2006 "W" Burnished series has exploded and untouchable for most of us.

Look into the 2004, 2005, 2006 and now the 2007 "W" Burnished to be the coins to have in fractionals. The 1oz coins are very expensive as well as the majority of the 1/2 oz coins in proof and some unc especially the 2006 "W" burnished series.

    Good luck and good hunting.....

I like the ASEs a lot because of the size, design and modest price for a silver coin. Almost all seem to be very high grade. I'm not sure whether the numismatic premiums that have developed for some of the bullion coins will hold up in the long run. It has the feel of being contrived and excessive in some way, and may turn out to be a fad in the long run. It's okay if you already own one, but I would never go out and buy any of the "keys" at current prices.
