Thanks! Will never be able to afford a high relief st gaudens, so this is the prettiest high relief from that era I will ever have! I thought it was very much is in the same style and spirit as the walking liberty and the st gaudens.
These are my most recent purchases. The first two are from a local coin shop the last is an eBay purchase I just made. Don't have the coin in hand just yet, but if he looks as good as the photo's I'll be very happy.
@Paul M. Thank you!! It's my first Wheat Cent purchase. I just made a thread of it's own. I'm trying to get a feel if I got a decent deal on it.
Not quite a new purchase, but new photographs. I think this is the best photo I've taken of a coin yet. It's also just a stunning coin in-hand, especially for the $20 price I paid a few years back. (For reference, this was my first crack at photographing it a few years back)
Scratch that, I actually found the original post of it in this thread! April 10th, 2013. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/lets-see-your-newest-acquisitions.158772/page-393#post-1685534 Pics have certainly come a long way.
I'm way behind taking any photos of new purchases but these just arrived in the mail today. These also arrived but I'm using the sellers photos as my own aren't anywhere near as good. Not actual official mint souvenir P/D sets from that year but third party (no mint sets in 82'/83'). Also got two others I'll post in another reply due to image limit.
I just purchased the Denver and Philadelphia Mint souvenir sets for both years for only $125.00. A bargain.
I wrote about this in my blog, but I wanted to share it with the CoinTalk folks as well. I buy silver primarily for personal investing, though I do have a small collection of proofs that I maintain, simply because I enjoy the view. This year, I got a piece I am very happy with. The 2015 1/2 oz Proof Silver $10 CAD Maple Leaf. The aesthetic appeal in these small sugar maple leaves is what finally made me pull the trigger. I don't recommend to anyone to purchase collectors silver, especially fractional, but personally I sometimes just can't resist. I am sometimes just simply happy to add a coin to my collection-- resale value be damned.
I think any real collector has been there. I buy the annual Perth mint .5g Au Mini Kangaroos for my kids since they started releasing them in 2010. Pretty sure not even their kids may ever see a positive return on those. But I think they look really neat and they help hold the kids interest in numismatics; which I'll net grade as positive lol.
Not bad at all if the coins in them are decent. I've noticed the official ones a crap shoot sometimes though. Unless there is really good pictures I shy away from buying the official souvenir ones unless it's in person. I bought all 3 of those 3rd party sets for a tad under $42 and couldn't really pass them up at that price.
I just got this Pogue Collection. Saint but just the Catalog. Opening bid 45k so catalog is the only thing in my budget.
I can't get over how tiny the trimes are. I purchased my first one a year or so ago and was shocked at how thin it was.
