Couple recent 1883 pick ups. Very happy with the Philly 1883 as that fills a hole and really like the subtle toning on the obverse. The CC was just an upgrade for my GSA set....errr 4th upgrade now I mean :D (I have a GSA problem)

Not coins but some bars I bought off of the bay. I'm a sucker for fractional silver. 100_5061.JPG

No pictures to show, since most of the dates are too weak to show.
I am not a believer in cleaning coins for any purpose. But bored today I bought a bottle of Nic-a-Date while at my local coin shop. Never have I used anything to try and find a date on my 200 plus CULL Buffalo nickels accumulated over 50 years.
I was amazed how it worked. I realize the coin's value is next to nothing, but I now have the following pulled from the many 1916, 1917, 1918, 1919, and 1920 former unknown date Buffalos.
1 1914 D, 1 1914 S, 2 1915 S, 1 1918 D, 2 1921 S, and I filled a spot in the Dansco with 1 1926 S. I have all the other dates already. Only need a 13 S and 31 S to complete the series. All have been pulled from circulation over time. I am now a believer, but not promoting the practice of altering the coins natural appearance.

My Whitman folder looked just like that...except the printing ended in 1964 with the 1964-D. But I never got close to that later set.

I just got this a few minutes ago. It's the second time this month the price exploded in the last few seconds. But I got this one. Anyone care to attribute it?

I was hoping for a bargain, but alas it went for market price.

I had this in its OGP. I had bought it when it was on sale at the mint for a mere 16.95. I bought this graded example for what I felt a reasonable price. I do like the modern commemorative halves and have noticed a few have gone up in price recently. The 2011 Army 1/2 The 2013 Five Star Generals even the 2015 U.S. Marshal commemorative half. I do plan on getting the Boys Town BU Half though I am not a fan of the design I do appreciate the wide variety of designs I've managed to accumulate over the last few years. Rarely do I buy a graded example of a modern anything. Though today along with it my daughter picked out the Jacqueline Kennedy Bronze Medal from the dealers showcase today. ( She is five ). Not bad for six bucks. She loves it. IMG_1129.JPG IMG_1130.JPG IMG_1112.JPG IMG_1113.JPG

I don't have a problem with using such things on cull coins which are dateless/mint markless because you really can't do much damage and you might find what you did. It's only the "enhancement" of nicer coins into culls that I detest.

Now, if only I had a TARDIS and could go back in time to retrieve all those dateless buffalos I pulled from circulation in my youth...

I liked this for $3.49, and it keeps my 1950 proof (post #8706) and 1950-D (#8674) company.

I'm becoming so envolved I want to be a good senior citizen here, with coin collecting. This is the first Time I joined anything. I think a lot of some of the board members and they could make some nice changes. IMG_4814.JPG

Very nice Morgan IMG_1131.JPG IMG_1132.JPG Hugh. Compare that to this old junky cleaned 1921 for $18.00. LOL
