"Junk Silver" an insult?

Junk silver is usually 90% or 40% US coins that are somewhat worn or damaged to not have any real numismatic value. However, I bought what the dealer had at the time. I got many JFK 1/2s, in unc condition, but not all were pretty. Some SLQ's. I also got some Benjies in worn condition that fitted in my Ben F. worn coin album.

It was the same with all the G. Washington's, and the Roosies and Mercs, I was able to pull out plenty of coins to fit in my circulated albums, and still have a nice hoard of 90% silver coins for me. I'm happy with my buy, even though silver has dropped a bit lately. I'll probably buy some silver Bullion if the price keeps being below $30-$28/Oz

    BTW, there was one 1945 D 2 Peso Filipino/US coin. Not g
reat or it's weight, but a nice silver coin at any rate.

Any dealer or seller who takes offense to the term should find a new business. There are countless other issues to worry about than junk being referred to as junk.

Collectors can rightfully call it whatever they wish, but this in no way changes what it is; junk.

    I think they're being a bit sensitive, but hey . . .

I like the term 'plain vanilla' silver rounds and ingots. This would not include name brand rounds and ingots like JM and E. PV silver is stuff made by "Joe's Bowling Alley, Carpet Studio and Mint. "

    peace,

Junk Silver, scrap silver, 90%, I've called it all things and they are almost universally understood. Now I do recognize a difference between scrap gold (chains, rings, etc) and junk gold (coins worn or holed). Either way anyone I've ever done business with always understood the question.
