I had a very generous tip in my industry. Put it into a 10OZT bar. I found one of these on the interwebs, that was #786.
WoW! 10 OZ? That's priceless but happened to the old boy? People are always looking to protect their collections with what I call.... "Collections with Weapons". This is definitely a good weapon to have during a burglary, no?
It was A-Mark that bought the La Verne Redfield. There were 407,596 Morgan dollars and 351,259 Peace dollars. He paid 7.3 million dollars for the hoard. collection. https://www.coinworld.com/news/us-coins/william-barbers-1876-us-centennial-medal.html
Nice 10oz U.S.V.I. Ingot. From what I read...The 785 or 786 is a lot number. Some people were thinking it was a date of manufacturer. There are a few other varieties and some marked AMARK.
I have been looking thru the internet and was hoping to find a place that I could date the bar. No luck I figured it was a lot #, but can't find any type of numbering system.
Early 80's from what I have see. This guy has a pretty informative page. https://www.silveringotinfo.com/doku.php?id=u:usvi
Very cool read RTE. Says that USVI was inly in business for 4 years. I knew the bar looked vintage but really had no idea. Thanks
