I am new to coin collecting and I found this 1960s nickel in my loose change. Is this an error on the 60? Is it worth holding on to?
Interesting.. Maybe a Bar Nickel Error @SchwaVB57 Bar Nickel thread https://www.cointalk.com/threads/1960-d-bar-nickel.328437/
Sure looks like a cud and chips to me, no extra value, but keep as a conversation coin IMO. Wait for others to chime in. Welcome aboard the CT Train. Hope you enjoy the ride and all of the stops.
And stupid childish behavior.....posting irreverent crap to a thread as was above, and is done daily here on CT brings down the reputations this site had. Someone had a legitimate question about a find.....they had....and...." recieved a correct answer" given by a member who knows of what" he speakes".....then we had the children show.....being as always disrespectful to a person asking a question ,as well a member who's well respected for his knowlege on errors as well varieties,. "Crapping in a thread" is against the rules here....read them the rules. Or..ask Peter http://www.cointalk.com/threads/thread-crapping-and-thread-hijacking.250313/
I'm confused? What happened to make you say this? I see nothing wrong with the answers in the thread...
The 0 in 1960 attached to the border rim looks to be a bar nickel. As for the other raised metal, looks like die chips as mentioned.
Interesting coin, Looks to me to be rim finning on the west side of the coin. bar nickel on top of the 0. But as far as inside the loops of the 6 and 0 i don't have an answer.
