Japan had a major real estate and stock market bubble [like us], bailed everyone out [like us], and lowered interest rates to just above zero [like us]. The followed this up with massive deficit spending for years [like us]. Edit: Oops! Was that poltical. It wasn't meant to be. My bad.
People are right to be wary of the market. I have a 401k that I stopped contributing to last year. Instead I've bought PM. I've got 1000 oz in silver. Now I'll pick up some common date ms 62 gold coins for a while. Then I'll move on to something else. I can't really do anything with the 401k anyway. Not without being crushed in taxes. I'll let it ride and see if it works out. Just like the rest of my investments. Anybody want to go in on an Alpaca farm with me? Just kidding. Probably. Unless you're interesed. Let me know.....
my 401K took a big hit, around a 50% loss, when 911 happened and it finally made a comeback this year minus a couple grand so i took it all out of the equity holdings and now im all cash in it. i said to myself when it came back that i would not let it happen again.
Adding a few Alpacas to your portfolio is not be a bad idea. When things get really bad you can't eat your coins. You could however stay warm by burning your 401K paperwork.
