Well that certainly doesn't make it the same variety, it isn't even the same year. A variety is in the die, and the coins have to be from the same die to be that variety. How much did that sell for? It really has no value.

Really? I don't think so. And that's a stain on the copper plating. Something that a person that knows nothing about mint errors made up in order to try to make money. They do it all the time.

it is not a fake coin.
    It is a real cent
just that the seller is deceiving the buyers into thinking it is a mint error or variety of any type.
It is a REAL US CENT, not a fake.

It is buyer beware if you are looking to buy mint errors/varieties without having good knowledge and experience.

I was just reading something that stated that these coins are sold as raw not certify by anyone--I mean I read once that someone brought a coin off ebay for a hundred and send it to pcgs and put it in a auction got alot for it,so doing your research always is always key

I have purchased many raw mint errors from ebay over the years. The thing is that I know that they were true mint errors..
About 30% of my attributed collection are mint errors I sent to NGC to have graded and attributed.
    This is my collection

Ebay is a horrible place for a beginning collector to try to learn about error coins. There are lots more coins on Ebay that are nothing more than damaged and hyped up junk than there are real mint errors. If someone don't know what the heck they are doing then my advice would be to avoid buying off the internet until learning as much as they can. People get burned every day and the beat up and altered junk will usually sell for more than the real errors. Then the buyer is left holding the bag with nothing .
