Not really sure what this means... "GOLD ALLOY COMBINATION BARS: 100 MILS .999 GOLD OVER .999 COPPER" Can someone please tell me what each of these bars would be worth? Bars have a buffalo on them, say 1 troy ounce and have a number 1 on them as well as 100 MILS .999 fine gold
Very thinly plated over copper http://forums.ebay.com/thread.jspa?...dID=520247498&rw=true&anticache=1308114062043
THANKYOU SO MUCH! I'm really glad I read that... My dad suspected that it may be something of the sort. I know nothing about investing in gold or silver.
In the plating industry, 1 mil is 1 millionth, so 100 mils would be 1/10,000 of an inch of gold. An ounce of copper is worth about 27 cents today, the gold less, so maybe 35 -40 cents each, IMO. Jim
You have to be very careful reading the descriptions for gold, silver and copper bars. The word 'TROY' should appear on any gold or silver bar. Copper is not considered a precious metal and usually, 90%, is measured in avoirdupois ounces. But do not assume anything. Ask the seller all your questions.
