Fiat currency is a barbarous relic as far as I am concerned. When metals return to money again out of necessity to enforce fiscal responsibility and avoid the historic pitfalls we are currently repeating then I will start paying attention to their buying power. Eventually that lead me to want to understand why things are the way they are, and what I can do to make things better.
