Because you don't stop with your posts I continue to express my own thoughts similarly. Pretty easy to see that's my position which differs from yours.

It would really be nice if you all could stop playing "who has the biggest Oscar Mayer" and we could get back to the original topic.

Two fret, like almost every other product that I buy from the US Mint.

I simply don't ingest processed meats, let alone the hot air these threads exist on.

Good, let's leave it at that and we'll see what happens when and if it happens, how's that?

What! ...until the next time a new product is being released and I again comment on the same people driving up interest, mintage (sales) and driving down prices by discussing the same things... don't forget that point, as it only seems doomed to replay itself again at some future point in time.

All this time I didn't even know that's what you were thinking. Yes, I am gonna walk away from this thread. I think that's the solution so that's what I'm going with. :thumb:

    Krispy,

In the interest of full disclosure, this thread was begun on July the 6th, which was after the sales period for the Eagle set had ended. There is no way this thread could have affected interest, sales, etc. in the set.

While your theory of the effects of predictions may have some merit in some situations, in this particular instance, given the evident timeframe, it is completely and utterly moot.

Okay Rick, (I apologize) I totally misread your post, and now I see what both you and buyingsilvers were saying after buyingsilvers clarified his statement. In Chris's defense, I think the conversation we had went a long way to explaining his frustrations. I didn't agree with his original approach and pointed comments (and said so) but now at least I understand part of where he was coming from. I think that was a healthy conversation, no telling where it goes from here.

The more I think about this more I believe the price will tank down to about spot + $5 per coin. In the interest of protecting all of you, I'll pay spot + $10 per coin and you don't have to take the additional loss. My PM box is open 24/7 if you're nervous....

    Your first post was:

"Want to see a coin that sold out in 30 minutes?

    http://www.perthmint.com.au/catalogu...roof-coin.aspx

Sold out prior to the release date and virtually impossible to find"

What part of that 1st post discussed what you stated above. If your original post started as you just explained above, I would have seen it as more in line with making market comparisons which BTW still has nothing to do with the OP of How high will these go. As Ruben stated you comment above might make refreshing sense to thread growth where most of these threads are the same old comments. I didn't see it developing in that manner and for that, maybe I was premature in moving the posts. As it was started, I felt it had merit and it's a good discussion. That is why I moved it to it's own thread. Nothing in the original post or most of the subsequent posts of "where can I find them" had anything to do with the OP.

If you want to continue the comparison line of discussion, I do not have an issue with it. The problem with your analogy (IMO) though is that the Perth mint has very limited mintages compared to the US mint that just pumped out 250K coins in a series that has show in the past that they can perform well in these numbers at least in the short term.

I think if you were to edit your OP in the thread I started for you, it might make more sense if you think it is confusing as it is now.

You probably have to read my comments above a few times to make sure you understand them, LOL - I know I did - sorry for how confusing it reads.

I think his frustration had more to do with the original thread of how many will be sold - sparking increased interest (maybe), and then having the same participants say okay, now how much will I make. I think that sums it up. At the end of the day though, the threads are going to repeat and Chris is going to be frustrated. In this day and age the market is going to drive interest due to the different wide spread mediums available. I just hope it helps the hobby more than it hurts it.

He probably would have seen better results if he just PM'ed members requesting to "cease and desist" instead of going on long tirades that didn't do much other than insult other posters.

Although I think it's wrong, I can undertand that mentality. Years ago, I used to "roll search" for fun. When people post their results on forums and internet sites, of course it drives up interest in the "hobby", and one can conclude you'd see less positive results as a result.

But in a forum setting, you give and take. You join, then contribute, that's what being on a forum is about. If a new member joins asking about "is it worth it to..." or "what is this worth...." he shouldn't be tricked with people downplaying the value of his coin or the potential of an investment. Who would want to join and stay at a forum if all the other members tell you something's a bad buy, then 1 week later are all celebrating because they doubled up their money?

    Hello

I expected that the connection would be understood as implied. I didn't feel that was reasonable that every small point needed to be spelled out. That kind of speech, while possibly clearer, leaves nothing for the other participant to think about when listening or speaking, and straighjackets conversation. It removes the pleasure of that half a moment when you connect the points and satisfy yourself with a minute endorphin rush at understanding what someone else's multilevel stream of consciousness gives you. Maybe I've now lived in New York too long, where lines like, "Who does things like that" are not only common vernacular, but a shared part of community identification.

Other members and myself didn't make the connection. Like I tell my wife who likes to give hints at times, if you have something important to say - say it. Don't get upset if I do not make the connection to some obscure comment. Following your logic though, you should have been able to make a similar connection when a member said you should start your own thread and you snapped back at them instead of trying to help them understand your logic.
