I just went back and looked at Jon's coin. I have NOTHING like that on mine. I looked over all the lettering carefully and could see nothing wrong.

My photos were taken with one of those hand help scopes. I can see the line just by tilting the coin and letting the light hit it just right. (Of course that is while wearing reading glasses). LOL>Maybe the mint is doing the same as Jack Hunt did: Shipping the premier coins out last!

Looking at mine right now...definitely has the line through "Springs". But all-in-all it's pretty impressive, with a nice finish.

I've got another one coming to my girl friends house...maybe a line free coin.

Also, maybe it's a good sign that the day this (and my bullion set) gets delivered, Silver is up $1.79 :b8nce:

Not too sure that silver prices mean much to the numismatic and/or long hold collector - which is what I am in this case. Actually $15 silver would be fine by me. :D Bring it on!

More to the topic - if you placed a guest checkout order and still have not heard from the mint or seen your card charged, call them ASAP. They didn't bother to notify me that the card I submitted the order with came up 'expired'. I was obliged to call them and get it straightened out after getting that 'sneaky' feeling that I was about to get reamed. :p

    TC:
On another thread you mentioned some very light rim nicks. Which side of your coin are they on? Mine are on the design side under E PLURIBUS UNUM, very faint but there. They are shinny pin points and I wonder if it is part of the original finish which wasn't hit by the ceramic blast? What ever the coin sits in or is held by, may have interfered with the treatment. I don't think mine are nicks into the metals surface. Their so small even my loupe can't tell for sure. I'll know more when it's photographed because I can zoom in as much as I want.

I looked at mine with a loupe, tilted it this way and that, under different lighting, etc. Then my husband came home and I told him to look behind me in case I missed anything. He looked it up one side and down the other and couldn't find anything wrong with it. He thinks it will grade at least a 69. We tried to duplicate what you were seeing on yours by tilting it juuuuuust right, but the letters are perfect.

  8. I think you may be right. It makes sense that they had to be held and some areas might not have received the blasting. I can only see it at around 25x magnification so am not concerned. TC

I received mine today. While I like the coin, this will be the first and last of the series that I will purchase. I bought it more for interest reasons, however I think it misses the mark on too many levels. I don't see these things having much of a numismatic value in the long term.
