Numismatic and quasi-numismatic like commemoratives, high-graded proofs, moderns, etc. I tend to buy infrequently so when I do buy I like to buy something with special meaning, artistic qualities, etc. If I was buying gold in bulk, I'd spend most of the $$$ on pure bullion coins.
I've never purchased any Gold bullion, but was fortunate that a B&M shop owner allowed me to assist him for "trade" after school at age 9. In the late 40s I don't remember hearing about Gold "bullion". I loved many of the designs on inexpensive "junk" foreign. I didn't collect Gold coin until the 60s, and then a U.S. low grade 1904 Gold $5 was all I could afford. When Krugerrands became available I purchased them. I've existed with "dealers" for many years in coin shops, after school/work. I selected, bought, graded, packaged coins, at the requests of "dealers". Having been a parochial student, I could only become a collector paying a fair price. I could never understand bullion buying, which required more trust than many of our customers had. I now have virtually all TPG graded U.S. Gold, searching for CACed coins preferably "sight seen", which are difficult to properly acquire. In many collectors opinion, coin "dealing" has really changed over the years. Thus the Minnesota "bullion" law, which I believe excessive, but often necessary. JMHO
With Google and the internet, today's buyers of PMs, investments, or anything have the greatest resources on their behalf. The MN law is totally unnecessary, IMO.
Only 81, but started in Numismatics at age of 9 while passing the B&M shop across from my Parochial school grounds. I offered to help in trade for foreign coins, and that started a looong adventure in the coin industry. I'm still an avid collector who constantly searches for missed Numismatic treasures that I share with less fortunate at a relative bargain price.
I've fortunately found that an attitude towards continued mental/physical exercise with a practice of ignoring pain medication, having young canines, and multiple minimally invasive surgeries, helps. JMHO
I find gardening gives a marvelous boost to mental and physical energy. Being amongst the birds, bees and natural things is a great escape from the world we live in now. Pain medication if needed can generally be natural remedies.
I don't take any meds at all, not even aspirin, zero alcohol and will do medical MJ before I ever touch opioids. I run about 5 miles per day
You're on my wave-length with not even aspirin, but I've a great supply of drugs. They were prescribed for me by surgeons who said you'll need them with this surgery. I've never taken one, close but not! I believe my past ~7 miles/day jogs may have ruined my hips/knees, where I don't want to damage repaired joints. A fast walk/jog with my young canines on my 8 acres of trails, often seems to stimulate movement. JMHO
YEAH, I totally agree with you got to keep moving seems to be the norm. Thats what I have read and been told by others. The most difficult part of exercising for me is the first step out the door seems once I get out there and walking two miles is not bad at all ...!!!!just that first step out the door!!! I can so talk myself out of it, wait till later, its cold, its windy, it's too hot, so many excuses... I am such a big baby these days.. use to go all the time..
