1) my first response directly addressed the OPs question - NOT a good price. 2) if you think junk silver and ASEs are the same, please refrain from giving advice any further on this forum, or anywhere else for that matter 3) transaction costs are prevalent in all silver and numismatic products, it is called a premium
My LCS dealer gave me the same advice you gave the OP. Had I followed his advice -- just bought Silver Eagles -- I would have taken a 50% haircut like most bullion investors. Thankfully, I did not listen to him. I speak from experience in having weathered the collapse of PM prices with my net worth largely intact. If that bothers you, you have the right to ignore me.
why did you sell the silver ASEs you bought when the price went down? i am willing to bet you didn't, and are guilty of making a veeeery nooooooob mistake of assuming because the price has fluctuated down, at this moment, you have experienced a loss. its only a loss when you sell pal. again, since i cannot stop you from giving advice, i hope that yours is taken with a grain of salt, or a very powerful amnesia inducing drug... i mean, after all, your LCS only does this for a living, probably been in the game for DECADES, what does he know, right?
additionally, i believe your LCS advice is out of context. noone would advise someone to put all of their eggs in one basket. i am sure if the other 98% of the conversation were communicated it would contain something along the lines of "how can i stack as much silver at a reasonable premium as possible while at the same time hedging against counterfeiting, future sell-ability, etc etc etc"
What are you trying to do: out-alpha me in a coin forum? Seriously, if I were you I'd register at RSDNation.com to use your energy a bit more productively. I'm at work, by the way, but I like that I can talk to hot chicks here. I will try to get one chick's number tomorrow. By the way, I do not literally claim that ASEs and junk silver are the same. I mean for newbs, it's often an overdone distinction.
1) good back-peddling 2) fortunately, i never had to resort to online dating (ie, wife and children)...but, keep your chin up, i am sure you will trick one eventually 3) get back to work. i hate firing people for cruising dating sites and arguing finance and numismatics on forums with people completely out of your league; ie, financially, experience, intelligence, etc. and i dont just mean me. give it a few hours and you will hear some of the more conservative and "protective of newcomers" speak out against your advice. its bad advice and not grounded in any form of....anything of value. 4) no alpha male ego here..you are the second person to confuse the meaning of alpha, or rather, the multiple meanings of alpha. alpha also means "original"... www.thesaurus.com
I am working 16 hours straight, buddy. Yeah, I kinda baited you to admit you were an older guy -- meaning you are attempting to score points in a thread by preening over your superior knowledge. I hope I am not that way when I am older. I defer to your level of expertise, though. Never claimed to be an expert.
older guy? i am 30 boss. a more accomplished, successful guy would be more accurate. saying you baited me is like having a 3rd grade short-bus rider getting excited over taking one of kasparov's pawns... but keep at it, this week you're washing lettuce, next week you'll be on fries!
I think morgans and peace are fun to get and its neat to hold a piece of american history in your hands that will never be made again!
