    PM responds more to economic uncertainty than to war. PM did not spike during the Gulf War, 911, Afghanistan, or Iraq. It did spike during the housing and banking crisis and has leveled off now the people have gotten accustomed to the "new normal". Syria is a little too far left of the oil fields to have much impact on PM or oil supply much in the same way that Lebanon didn't have much of an impact in the 80's.
