And they don't even change the script when they show the "customer" before and after the transaction: Customer before transaction: "I've come to the pawn shop today to try to sell my "mention the item"; I'm hoping to get "mention the amount" Customer after transaction: "Well, I only got "mention the amount" for my "mention the item"; still, I guess it was a fair offer. Now off to the blackjack tables."
People do some funny stuff in the hood...stuff you just can't make up Thats what makes the show good.
Yes, not all of the show is staged but they sometimes have actors go in and make a complete ass of themselve, but also, when these people see that there making a very popular TV show, of course there going to want to "make the cut" in the editing room and be very rediculous just to brag to there friends. When you add those 2, you get this show.
I've seen the show many times. Don't make a point to watch it. I hate to say it but it has more of a sleazy feel to it compared to the Pawn stars. I think a lot of the non-sense would go on whether the camera crews were there or not. I don't think he's paying the security guards just for the show. I'm sure they piece all the worst instances together to make it look like there's constant chaos for entertainment purposes. I think they're more ruthless than pawn stars. Saw a guy bring in an old toy wagon from the 50s. He wanted $100. Then he wanted $90. I think they ended up giving him $50 for it. After the guy was gone, the owner bragged about how well he knew old toys and that he knew he could get at least $600 for it. There was one episode where the son convinced the father to get a metals tester worth $16k. It was pretty cool. Tells exactly what it is and the purity. They were getting ripped off by fake gold pieces, despite the acid tests so they bought it. Nobody passing off fake gold there anymore.
