    Ummm... Very nice coin, indeed, but the war was over by then... As I mentioned above, I am reading a biography of General Henry Guisan.

    The coin was issued to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the liberation of the Netherlands. On one side you see Wilhelmina, queen in 1945, with the inscription Nederland herrijst (something like Netherlands re-born). The other side shows Juliana, queen at the time when the coin was issued (1970) ...

    Hehe, not sure. But @Legomaster1 wrote "WWII coinage" in the initial post, so why not add pieces which refer to that war and its end in 1945. ;)

    You are so right. My father in law carried German shrapnel in his back till the day he died. I spent many early mornings out fishing with him trying to pry some of those stories out of him. He never once would discuss battle with me. But I do hold some stories dear to my heart that my mother in law would have divorced him over!
