Googling &quot;fake 100 oz silver bar&quot; turns up silver-plated examples, but for a 100- or 1000-oz bar it could be worthwhile to core a real one, fill it with a lower-melting alloy of the same density, then plug it. You&#039;d have a thick enough layer of silver to look good when scratched, and the weight/dimensions/density would be right. Even XRF probably wouldn&#039;t penetrate enough to detect the interior.
