http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...buffs-discover-five-gold-bars-Iraqi-tank.html so the story at this point has been proven true and not a hoax. how much you think they will be able to sell the bars for if they are able to keep them which I doubt they will.
Don't gold bars have serial numbers on them? If they were looted from Kuwait, they are going to want them back.
I'm thinking that everyone that bought these military vehicles are going to start quietly cutting them up and not saying a darn thing. I saw another article on these where people regularly buy the cars that law enforcement confiscates from drug dealers because they are still finding money, gold and - yes even drugs inside. I've attended a few auctions and found gold/silver buried in the backs of furniture and jewelry boxes. It's a great rush to find the hidden treasure!
Why did they go to the media? (I hate dailymail and I'm not opening it) Personally, if I found gold bars of dubious origin like this, I wouldn't tell a soul... but to each their own. I guess those five minutes of fame are important to some folks.
Kind of like the Saddle Ridge hoard. I would have kept my trap shut, and slowly over time filtered the coins into the market. Avoid the publicity, the tax hassle etc.
Well, the guys who found the bars apparently talked to the Sun. Much better? I doubt it. The story also appeared in Coin World a little later, see this topic: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/tank-you.294971/ Christian
