Chief, I just picked up a 2005 PCGS FS ms69 $25 gold eagle at a little over spot plus a NGC ms69 $25 gold eagle at a little over spot. I think folks are dumping gold to buy these san-francisco silver eagles, I think this is a bad move. I am going to wait and pick up 1 set PF69~Reverse PF69 probably at a little over release price, a lot of folks will over-buy and look to dump them. I am going to try to bid a lowest price to get a nice set, that"s just me thinking out-loud ! Watcha - Think ?

    Haven't got long either...:D

Just picked up a 2010 $25 gold eagle NGC ms70 at $866, me thinks some folks need $$$'s to buy san-francisco proof set. :) I don't know which is the best move but I like gold eagles too much.

Gold a good move no matter what size you are buying, even a 1/10th ounce gold eagle at $180 to $187 is a better bet than these over-sold stinkers ! Just my honest opinion, just way to many sellers looking to cash in. They will just end up cutting there prices just to un-load over-bought quantities.

I'm guessing 303,000 sets. I might only get two now that the price is $150.00/set

423,789 sets will be sold by the mint. I'm planning to buy 2 if everything goes as planned.

with only 85,341 sold on day 1, I'm thinking that my original guess of 500k is still pretty good. I think that the high price is keeping a lot of people to one set.

  15. I am sticking with my original guess of 300K. These will fall off the radar in a few days even with people checking the online counter. I agree that there will be a surge in the final days, but the collector market will be saturated by then. I believe that a good number of these sets will be returned as well by the non-collectors, and that it may take some time after the window to determine final actual mintage. TC

I'll also stay with my original range of 250,000 to 300,000. I think there are a number of factors operating here. First, the price is higher than it should have been. People don't like to feel like they are being taken. Second, the Mint's offerings are uninteresting, even boring. This set, for example, offers nothing new, just a new date and a new mintmark, but nothing creative at all. I won't even get into the dull commemorative releases of late. Last, it seems many are pretty much "over" the Mint and its recent antics: ATB puck snafu, laughable ordering system, 25th Anniversary Set mess, continued uncertaintly of the release schedule of the ATB pucks.

I've said this before, but there are many creative and interesting coins available in the world of today with lower prices than this that can well compete with the Mint for our hobby dollars. I would like to patronize our Mint more just because of the fact it is our Mint, but man, enough is enough. It's quickly getting to the point where it's just not worth it. Hello! Mint! Wake up! If you were a private corporation, you would probably be out of business.

    I do, I do.....:D

Naw, I'll stick with my original #s and remove ALL doubt...

The numbers kinda reflect how many people collect ASE as a complete set.

I appreciate your research. I hope the mintage numbers slows down for this issue. I've ordered only 2 sets so I'd like to have them appreciate over the following years.
