Guess the Mintage of the 2012 San Francisco Two Coin Proof Set

I don't know where the 8 million collectors figure comes from but I know that I am not going to order on the first day and spend 4 hours online or that many hours on hold on the phone. But I seriously doubt that I am competing with anywhere near 8 million collectors for these ASE's. Maybe several thousand serious collectors and a couple of dozen resellers. I think the fact that you can order as many sets as you want will keep the phone bank operations down significantly.

With 1 month to order I am going to watch the quantity sold meter very closely. What I don't like is that some people will be able to cancel orders at the last second, thus throwing the sold meter off. For those of you who don't know about the sold meter, the us mint will have a quantity sold meter on this set on it's web page.

 

Plenty of time to order Moen1305, I'm with you on not spending hours on the computer the first day of sales.

 

Yah i think the last day will be the 2nd(only to the first day of sells) biggest day in sells depending on how many are sold until that point. If the number is still under 300k by the last day im buying 3 to 4 more sets

 

I still think this will be a nice set to own !

 

It would be great if the mint started using a real time counter of number ordered for all of their products. Sure, the counter can even factor in the number of items returned and restocked as well. This would cut down on all the threads started to track time of order, order number, and the incessant guessing game of when sell-out will occur that ensues after every popular release. TC

Just saw the mint's price on this set. $149.95. Think the price will effect the number sold?

Too bad on that. yeah, I'll order fewer, and I'll bet other "normal people" will, too. Any ideas how that will affect the big houses?

 

Mike Mesak/HSN will be sure to have plenty of ANACS PR70 FIRST DAY OF ISSUE sets for sale very soon regardless of issue price and subsequent mintage. Watch out for all the special labels and marketing gimmicks from all the big players as well. I will just buy one raw set for my collection and enjoy the show. . TC

At that price im only buying 4 instead of 5 so i think the number will be closer to 400k instead of 550k. Wonder why priced so high silver went down 4 to 5 dollars since 25th set came out yet price per coin went from 60 dollars to 75.

 

$149.95 Watch all the pre-sales on ebay ! I think this is still a nice set to buy and hold for this coin guy.

 

I was going to snag three if the price would have come in under $130. I think I'll just get one now. $150 is a bit high and I think they might have gambled A bit too much with that price. I think many people will change their numbers on this as I have.
