I've had on several occasions working a show a customer come in with a set of Franklins nice coins in Capital holder etc...walked around the room 25 /30 dealers not 1 would make an offer!
Not 1 wanted them.....not like a book of Morgans or other series.

Take the 50 D nickel....in 1963 unc. Specimen was $35 If you could find one...you sure the hell couldn't in circulation..
As you well know a MS 64 fs 1950 D today can be found well under $25 !
Now let's put inflation into the equation in 1963 $35. = was equal to $350 in today's money as for buying power.....am I ever glad I never laid down the 35.$ in 1963 damn skippy....as I finally filled that spot sometime in my college years.
And at one time had a roll of 50 D's the were purchased well under $300.
Many people make quick decisions on items in life that seem to be a good deal at present, and later find out had they done their homework they be in the plus collum not the negitive.

Feel free to post it if you want! I'm fairly confident it's NT or bare minimum MA. And even if others don't think so I'm secure enough in my purchase to not be offended. I purchased this for me and I was ecstatic seeing it in hand for what I expected to receive ha

I understand what your brother is doing. I almost have a complete high grade FBL set just not registered. Encourage him to get it finished so he can move on. :)

Well I can say I think this guy is a definite slider. He does have some marks on both sides that are well hidden by the toning but it has great color and strong luster!
@WildWest was the closest at MS 62.

I was also going to say Au 58...and to be honest if 90 % of my collection were Au58 I be one happy camper!
It's a nice coin for sure ,and all that truly matters is that you like it.

I'm not 100% certain on the toning, but I'd lean towards QC if I had to make a call.

As long as you like it, that is all that matters. :)

If you want to post it in that NT/AT thread, feel free as there is an opening at the moment. :)

I wonder what Ed Wood would have graded this? Who am I kidding, he would have said AU58 for sure!

Ed Wood is too good to post in our presence. He is too busy tanning in the Caribbean, on a 70 foot Yacht.

Dude was hilarious, he would show up after the reveal of every gtg thread, then claim that he only read the op as he proceeded to nail the assigned grade. To further his lunacy, he actually bragged about his perfect grading skills. It should be mandatory that every forum have an Ed Wood, pure entertainment!

Can anyone figure out where they were seeing the wear?

If you zoom in on the True view you can see a few dings over both surfaces. But even then with as little wear and strong luster I would expect a low MS, so I have no idea!

Were it not for the wear we’re unaware of that coin would start at grade of 64, and I’m pretty sure even top that, as there aren’t enough contact marks for a 63 and under...
