Please guess the grade of the 1945-S Jefferson Nickel shown below. I have attached a poll for you to cast your vote and you may select up to 3 different things: the numerical grade, 5FS or NOT FS, and + grade. As always, comments welcome, and please remember to vote in the poll.
66 5FS is what I'd grade it but based on the order, I went with "other"...I think NGC might have given this one "Unc Details" like your last one (wheel mark or damage...with the area concerning me being to the right and slightly below the S mintmark)
I think that they call the rough planchet between the 3rd and 4th pillars is an rough planchet, there is still a distinct riser. MS66 5FS.
66+ 5FS The luster on this one looks great although maybe muted an bit from the toning. Great strike and eye appeal. Small flaw on reverse near the S I felt like keeps it out of a 67.
MS-66 but I said no full steps as the bottom step doesn’t look complete to me. However there is enough there that one of the TPG’s may have said yes.
I purchased this coin raw from a well known eBay dealer for $230. My prediction for the grade was MS66+ 5FS with the mark on the cheek preventing an MS67 grade. Like all of my other predictions on this submission, I was wrong, they really liked this one I guess. Please click the link below if you would like to participate in my next GTG thread. Great Minds think alike! FWIW, I think you, me, and Larry got this one right and NGC gave me a gift grade. It takes courage to guess a grade that equals a near $2K price tag, and being correct deserves recognition, well done sir!
