Please guess the grade of the 1944-P Jefferson Nickel shown below. I have attached a poll for you to cast your vote and you may select up to 3 different things: the numerical grade, 5FS or NOT FS, and + grade. As always, comments welcome, and please remember to vote in the poll.
The way they have been treating you, I wouldn't be surprised by a MS-63. But I will guess they gave it a MS-64 5FS.
I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see this coin in an NGC holder graded MS67 5FS. If that gash on the reverse were on Jeffersons forehead it would be a 65. Let's see.
I'd normally go MS 65 5FS but based on this order, I went MS 64 not FS ....the steps are close but I'm guessing the graders were less tolerant of the breaks in the steps...as for the coin, those hits on the reverse might have done this one in (and just something about the overall coin seems more "flat" vs the prior ones you posted)
Ok, nobody got this one right, because the assigned grade is insane! Please click the link below if you would like to participate in my next GTG thread. GTG 1945-S Jefferson Nickel (NGC)
They actually never liked giving these grades, and that includes NGC. Yet they'll give grades to greased and polished die strikes. Don't make no sense, somehow.
