This arrived today. I started collecting Libertads only in 2017 and all of the previous years are way out of my budget. I wasn't sure I was going to get the 2020 but was able to order it last week. I'm surprised it showed up so fast with the was the USPS is running lately. I present my 2020 Mexico Silver Libertad. Feel free to post any of your good ends to the dumpster fire that was 2020.
Thank you! It's one of the jewels of my collection now. BTW, those Libertad onzas can tone up really nicely, just like ASEs. It might be fun to put together a toned set of them, and I bet you could do it for less than it would cost to put together the equivalent ASE set.
I have a full date set of ASEs. All of my silver is in airtites so I'm not sure how much they will tone. I love a good toned piece but I also worry about it turning out looking like garbage.
I bought this a few days ago, and needless to say, I'm quite eager for it to arrive. Nerva AR Denarius 97 A.D. Obverse: IMP NERVA CAES AVG P M TR P II COS III P P, laureate head right Reverse: CONCORDIA EXERCITVVM, clasped hands. Diameter: 17mm Weight: 3.20g
Here's one I bought in November and I'm totally happy with it as I had thought about buying an 1849 for quite awhile!
Don't be surprised if it shows up late. I received this coin on December 23 after it was sent via two day Priority Mail on December 14. It came from Chicago but went though Sioux City, South Dakota before it got to Florida. Go figure.
Bah-Hum-Bug, I'm jealous. The Libertad is gorgeous, as are the others, thanks for the post. Merry Christmas.
I should identify the Roman coin I posted. It is a follis of Constantius I. He was a Caesar under the emperor Maximianus who ruled the Western empire from 286 to 305. The Eastern emperor was Diocletian who ruled from 284 to 305. Diocletian decided to retire in 305 and asked a reluctant Maximianus to leave with him. Constantius became the Western empire emperor, but it didn’t last long. He died less than two years later while he was campaigning in Britain against the barbarians. His son, Constantine, seemed be in-line to be next, but things got complicated. Ultimately Constantine won out and is now know as Constantine the Great.
As part of our Christmas bonus this year, my company gave out 1 oz silver rounds. The "hero" part is a bit over-the-top, as we make HVAC equipment, hardly life or death stuff, but I'll still add it to my COVID collection
