Cherry picked this little guy off eBay...granted it’s got some damage but I’ve never id’d anything higher than an R-4 in the wild so Wooooo! It’s an O-106 btw.
I remember when I first got the Overton book. Went to a coin show and cherried an R.5 1811, which more than paid for the book itself. Was a great experience. Congrats.
Congratulations! Finding an R-5 of any series, Large cents or Bust coins is always a great experience.
Congrats. I'd have been clueless. Just as before. You see, I owned an R-8 once. After I sold it, it became the 1806 O-129 discovery coin. Of course I didn't know that at the time. Sold it for 75 bucks. Right off my Holey Coin Vest. Oops. So you could say I was the cherrypick-ee rather than the cherrypicker. There has since been a second one found, I believe. Congrats on the score, even if she has a bit of damage. Finding an R-5 is always cool! The best I have are a couple of R-4+.
Last week I cherried my first two R.6 varieties within three days of each other. Well, one is a R.6 variety and the other is an R.6 die state, which I already posted in the newest acquisitions thread. The true R.6 is in the mail. I'll post it when it arrives.
