Back in the eighties gold hit $850.00 an ounce and due to the Hunt Bros. silver hit $35.00 an ounce. I don't remember anything about platinum. Do any one of you think that gold will rise astronomically, that silver will rise at all and that platinum will surpass gold as it used to in the past?
Well you didnt mention Palladium at all ? currently at $1,553 an OZ and gold is back under $1,300 and Silver is $15.28, i personally dont think Silver will ever get back over $23 OZ, however Gold will probably recover And Platinum is just how humm...
Along with platinum they use it in the automotive industry for Catalytic converters, which is the main purpose, but its a mystery To me why its gone on such a mind bender.
Bloomberg had a report at the beginning of the week about impacted production in African mines, but seemed to indicate the companies expect a positive physical year earnings. I might play it as a short term paper asset., but I suspect it would not be one to accumulate, as catalytic converters would be moot in an apocalypse. It is also the lightest of the common precious metals so many would think it is fake. Density of 12.02 compared to platinum @21.4. They will shoot you for cheatin' ps. I don't think it would register well on most bullion checking machines.
