I have 1977 and 1978 Krugerrands. I think they are nice looking. Wanna know what I paid over ten years ago? $700 for one and $680 for the other.
Really ? i think the Antelope design is awesome !! availability, price and world wide acceptance is the key to its success if you want to pay more for buffalos then more power to you.
As a matter of fact just ordered a 1/10 OZ Krugerrand and an APE, wanted to go bigger but have already bough allot of silver this month but did want to get the ball rolling in the gold direction
...and for not getting in five or ten years earlier when gold was $300 or less. I still miss the nice proof 1986 AGE that I sold in 2012, but the $1600 I got for it soothed the sting. A shame I then put it right back into a burnished MS70 AGE that I still have.
Krugerrands may be one of the most popular worldwide, but not necessarily in the USA. I have a few Krugerrands for diversity, but the bulk of my gold bullion is in the form of AGEs in various sizes (mostly 1/10). Now, if I every decide to emigrate and smuggle my gold out of the country I may regret this. But as I have no immediate plans for that I am going to buy 755 AGEs and 25% other (which includes, but is not limited to, Krugerrands). Of course, I don't think that bullion is the best form of gold investment. I prefer pre-1930s European coinage, as I have said before.
Even though i like Krugerrands best it doesnt mean i wont invest in AGE,S As a matter of fact i have found them more affordable generally between $10 and $15 coin for coin, i have been trying to save up and buy gold in volume But just to pricey so got me a red tube coming in along with a 1/10 Once Krugerrand and a APE 1/10 oz in the black tube now looking for palladium a big jumper as of late
