Gold bullion vs. gold coins

    Yeah, me too. I like Saints, but I've always preferred the Liberty design. They typically cost less too which is an added bonus.

    I have helped my wife put away some beautiful foreign gold recently at or near spot ( + 1 or 2% or so ), and a few coins were purchased below spot with the Ebay 10% off coupons.

    Best of both worlds, beautiful coins with history at spot....can't beat it

    I have neither a Liberty or Saint double eagle, but I think that is my next collectible over the 2008 buffalo. For some reason, newer coins just don't have the same charm as something that has a history (even if it is in MS68 condition with a frosted background).

    And thanks scottishmoney for the great pic of the Liberty double eagle; I never really took a long look at the reverse on those coins until a few months ago; I really think it is under appreciated.
