I really can't say what I think of thread find, told to test it,cuts it with a saw, told it possibly a remake, told to get it tested. could we CUT out part of this thread? I actually hope it's not gold so if he ever does find a real bar he willl know not to use a saw as a way to "test"
Hey Benny, I got friend that will test it for you.. He is honest and knows what he's doing. He will give you the straight scoop:thumb: Here's his picture, don't that fool you though Tim
LOL!!! When this was happening I was very disappointed and sad, and now that it seems it is a bunch of melted shell casings I am amused, very amused. I also hope others take lessons from this.
Do you have a pic of the bar that it's supposed to be a copy of? It was worth the find even if it isn't gold. I mean of course it would be better if it put a couple thou in your pocket but if not I'm sure you've learned from the experience. good luck whatever the outcome
Sorry. At least your 'saw test' didn't ruin the real deal and the next time, if there is one, that you find something with this much potential while detecting you will have a LOT of ideas on how to handle the find before cutting into it or sharing too much info, chem tests, etc. Thanks for the update and keep us updated on future detecting finds, especially coins and bullion!
So ok, its not real, but what's the story behind it? Any word on that? Although it is a brass alloy, it may still have some collector value to someone well above what the item is acutally worth. Good luck.
Just to make sure.... Who told you this? How did they test it? Maybe it's me, but I'm having trouble following the story of what you are doing with the bar.
i went and got it tested at a profesional geochesit and they did an acid test on it. and the guy that did it is one of my uncles friends
