It seams that Walmart is following Costcos lead by offering 1 OZ GOLD Bars but appears that they are offering generic and Costco is offering boutique but everybody is getting on the GOLD band wagon…LOL
Walmart is just acting as a 3rd party reseller for Apmex AFAICT. It's probably why the price seems high. They are just a middleman taking a cut.
Woah, gold really has gone up! In the back of my mind I still had spot at $1970. I guess I need to stay more in touch with the market!
In my experience, folks who turn up their noses at a 3-4% premium for bullion are the same ones who will be kicking themselves two weeks after gold moves (the USD moves the other way) because they didn't buy at the right levels. Anyone who believes gold's lows (in USD) are behind us should not be passing opportunities to protect themselves at a modest premium. Smart investors don't get into gold to make money (offensive mode) . . . they get into gold to not lose money (defensive mode).
I occasionally find myself buying a thing or two or three at WalMart, though I try to limit going in there to one time every month or two and only for certain items.
Purchasing precious metals from these "budget" 3rd party resellers is a horrible investment. It would be cheaper to purchase directly from major bullion resellers, even at the ridiculous mark-ups. I think these 3rd party budget resellers are artificially increasing the price of gold and as soon as the market corrects, most likely in 2nd or 3rd quarter 2024, gold prices will correct with it as these customers sell off there overpriced purchases.
Members of Cointalk are not their target market. The general populace has no idea where to purchase gold. Costco & Walmart are great channels through which large metals retailers can make initial contact, sort of like coin dealers filling cases in Woolworth's decades ago.
Though I don’t buy bars only GOLD coins I think Costco,s prices are really good, the problem is they sell out so fast that the opportunity to buy is only for the few.
There's plenty of gold to claim that's left in the seayou want gold for basically free?a pirates life it'll be!!!.
Walmart.COM There is a difference. Can you imagine a Walmart store trying to keep track of gold bars And Yes, NO RETURNS on gold/silver Precious Metals (E.g., gold bars, silver coins, currency)
I love the "Free Shipping Arrives in 3 Days". Yea right, the delivery guy is just going to leave it on your front porch and you will never see it again or it was "lost in transit".
They will take a picture for proof of delivery You still live in that pink house with the purple door right
