outsiders heavy outsiders (not collectors) and big investors were talking about this week end to purchase gold coin and gold stocks. i think it will open very high tomorrow. what do you think?.
I read somewhere else that you can not order gold coins from the mint at current prices. Though their website does not show these as coins as being unavailabe, when you try to add them to your cart, you are told they are unavailabe. Do not know but that is what I have read. As you can imagine a lot of people do not like this. lol. For some reason when gold goes up, I think about the dollar down and oil up.
Just tried to order gold from U.S. Mint and had no problem getting anything they listed as available. Don't know where you read this but it's not true.
my guessing the next move or increases by u.s.mint for the gold unc and proof series as follows. (only my fantacy guess. it might be correct.) am eagle unc one ounce gold $899.95 am eagle and buffalo proof one ounce gold $969.95
I found it. Was off collector universe. Seems a few got them and others did not. Hope the link works. http://forums.collectors.com/messageview.cfm?catid=26&threadid=616740
based on $820.00 per ounce if u.s. mint based it on $820.00. then the one ounce am eagle unc will cost $929.95 and the proof $999.95. the 4th spouse will then be around $499.95 unc and $529.95 proof. and the modern commem $5.00 gold unc and proof will also be adjusted accordingly. and plus $35.00 donation.
Queston for elaine 1970 Hello elaine 1970, You have been all over this and the Presidential dollars and Sacagaweas. So here's my question (gold related). Does buying gold at roughly $100 over spot really make an sense? I can buy older 1 ounce egales at $40-50 over spot. My dealer buys them at spot. Hey, it's just an ounce of gold after all and unless it turns out to be a low mintage in a year or so the current issues will be just that. BULLION. On the rare occasions I buy gold I usually buy foreign coin. Can get it at 2% over melt. That would make $820 spot roughly $836. Makes a hell of a lot more sense to me.
The other thing you need to scope out is the Stock Markets . With three of four indicators down, gold has to continue up.We will continue to pay higher prices in relation to income as oil will pass 100.00 as a goose passes berrys. Who will hold your gold or silver for you ? No offshore drilling in the Atlantic since ? More places made off limits to drilling . Some that have been reconized as viable and have contracts signed are not being utilized. " Point Thompson , Alaska. Do a search on that .Ethanol with green waste is a bridge product. Corn is not viable. Coal is being probed to bring down the budget for the Military budget ( Fisher - Tropsher process ) . We had better come up with a strategy for our energy for the future or will be collecting fewer coins and spending more green backs to survive.
gold heading to record high $812.10 is the high for today and silver edged $14.88 high. no wonder u.s. mint suspended selling gold eagle again.
What does this say now about the $840 per ounce we paid for the First Spouse coins? That's only $30 over today's price of $810. I might just keep them as bullion. The fancy boxes would just be a bonus.
I was thinking that would happen this week... I put through one last order over the weekend. Interestingly, the proof gold eagles are still available.
do not unload the Jeff it is giant sleeper along with the unc Franklin (58,000)mintage can pick them up cheap now
I have only one each of the Jefferson proof and unc which I will not be selling. However, I have 4 complete sets of the MW and AA coins (16 coins total) assuming I keep one of each for myself. If gold prices keep rising, their melt value alone will be worth what I paid for them before long.
Something else to think about back in Feb.2007 Silver was up to 14.58 OZ and a week later was back to 12.50 a oz
Just was in the mint site and they have changed the date for selling the Dolly madison Spouse Coin from Nov. 15th (original date) to Nov. 19th. No mention yet of price. Any guesses? I think Unc will go for $469.00 and proof for $489.00
You are so definite about it. Where did you get your information? That's $1040 an ounce for gold. That's a lot more than the usual markup by the mint. That just doesn't make sense to me.
