Germany coin thread (only the best)

    German States (Prussia) 1908 5 Marks. A few reasons this is my choice German coin, the most outstanding eagle design on a German Silver coin. Some family (mom's side) is from Prussia a while back, about 4 generations ago. And the house I currently live in was built in 1908. This all made the coin well worth collecting.

    I got this on ebay last year for around $45 dollars. AU looking condition.

    NEXT UP on my agenda, a Prussia 2 Thaler Silver from the mid-1800's. I need one. They tend to bid pretty high on ebay though... :angelic:

    here's a worn coin, not very attractive but i like pre-1800 stuff and unusual fractions...so picked it out of the bargain bin.

    Hi Rheingold, its a 1 Gulden and not a shooting thaler. I am little suspicious of the look of that coin.

    Well, it says "1. Bad(isches) Landesschießen Mannheim", so it does refer to some shooting. Let's call it a Shooting Gulden instead of a Shooting Taler. :)

    Indeed it's a Gulden.
    Sorry I was too fast in posting and describing the coin correct.
    Coin has a nice toning.
