Does anyone know what listing number the German notgeld coin is and it's worth? I know this coins is from the Philippines, but does anyone have more info on it? Thx in advance, Joe
the top one is kreigsgeld from the german city of coblenz i am guessing it is either zinc or iron as these were the most common metals used... i think the bottom one is a transport or telephone token
The Notgeld piece from the city of Coblenz (today Koblenz, in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate) features the "Augenroller", by the way. That relief can be found on the facade of the Altes Kaufhaus. It depicts the head of a thief who, in the 16th century, was executed and is said to have said that the Koblenzers should exhibit his head as that would bring them luck. According to the same legend, the guy's head, once chopped off, still rolled his eyes and stuck his tongue out. Anyway, this relief in Koblenz reminds of him. The eyes are constantly moving to the left and right, and every 30 minutes the tongue appears ... Christian
