C'mon Spock...keep going! I feel your pain, but this is a set you can only put together if you get them as they come out...it'll be unattainable later on. We all got caught with our collective pants down on this one. Pick up the Unc now and hope to trade it for a nice Proof once all the Hoopla dies down. I have two sets going, but probably can't afford it much longer. If gold prices don't come down, my plan is to sell off the second set to finance the conclusion of the first. I'll make you a deal...if that happens, you can have first dibs on my spare Buchanan Proof...they both look PF70 to me.
Here Spock, watch this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260735688816&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
if he could use his predictive powers to warn us about the sell out instead we would all be happy but no he chooses to focus on me instead
I'm sure you'll be able to pick up a PF70 for a slight premium over the Mint's slight premium...the Uncs are still available from the Mint. As the Presidents become more obscure and the price of gold continues to rise, we could see some crazy low mintages in the next year or two...now that the Mint is trying to estimate their future sales. The First Spouse series fascinates me...there's so much drama and intrigue! I'm keeping an archive of all the posts and articles I can find...so I can write a book after the series ends. I think we're seeing history pass in front of us and we'll look back some day and say..."I could have bought that coin right from the Mint...what was I thinking?!". :rolling:
Yak, Not sure if I'll hang in there for the marathon but I'm hoping to get the full set. I really think these FS $10 golds are going to become a valuable set after the dust settles. Low mintage + Low Interest + High initial cost + many years = ========= Very Valuable Collection. (I hope) Anyhoo, I'm not looking forward to paying a premium for the ones I've missed but I'm going to latch on to the new ones as they come out. Do you get the Proof or UNC or one of each? It is probably prudent (although really pricey) to get one of each. I've picked up 7 so far and I've only started about a week ago. You have any suggestions for places to pick up the 2008, 2009, ladies?
I just cracked out my Liberty 69s and put them in the 4-coin holder. NICE! PS: In a paper dollar-free future, when Congress continues the series for our current presidents, I think Hillary alone will add a lot of interest to the series.
Low interest = just another modern comm that will trade at spot. JMO The only ones I see that might be of value will be those wives of popular presidents and the lady liberties.
