Strange numbers this week. They've increased, but not by much. 2011 Silver Proof Set saw sales of 446. 7 sets more than last week. New total is now 570,170. That's 15,244 behind the 2010 set. The 2012 Silver Proof Set sales were 9,542. 156 less than last week. And who said with the holiday season upon us, sales would increase? HA! Anyway, it's new total is 350,227.

Well, it's been about 3 weeks since the last numbers were posted. Actually, I don't think anyone is even reading this thread anymore and it's getting close for it to ride off into the sunset. I think it's about ran its course.:( Anyway, I got some new numbers and will continue to post until we get the final sales figures in for the 2011 Silver Proof Set which should be around January 3rd or 4th.

The 2011 Silver Proof Set sales figures for the past 3 weeks have been 2,535. That's 580, 1497 and 458 respectively. New total is now 572,705. Still 12,709 behind the 2010 Silver Proof Set total of 585,414. Sales for the 2012 Silver Proof Set are now at 383,696 and are averaging 10,500 sets per week as of late. When considering this set (2012), please keep in mind post #714 of this thread posted by avr5700 in regards to the new U.S. Mint Limited Edition Silver Proof Set that's to be released. 50,000 more halves and dimes will be in that set which will add to the total number of halves and dimes contained in the standard 2012 Silver Proof Set sales. Right now the total is 433,696. 383,696 + 50,000= 433,696.

The 2013 Silver Proof Set is scheduled for a May 13th release next year.

A good number of guys from my coin club are still excited about the 2011 Silver Proof Set and are buying them up where they can find them. Complete and partial sets. No one seems to be ordering from the Mint but are getting better deals from local coin shops, online and private parties.

Never underestimate just how lazy, yet still interested we can be. I've been watching the sales figures each week outside of this thread.

Is everyone expecting the 2012 sets to remain on sale for all of 2013? I'm definitely not a fan of this new extended sales period approach.

IMO, no coin should be sold by the mint in a year not depicted on that coin.

Agreed. Time was, they used to melt 'em if they went unsold..........

Weekly numbers are in. Sales for the 2011 Silver Proof Set were up somewhat to 687 for the week. New total is 573,392 which is 12,022 behind the 2010 Silver Proof Set total.

Sales for the 2012 Silver Proof Set were down. 6,563 sets were sold, which brings the new total to 390,259.

Should have a new sales report on the 3rd of January and the final sales numbers for the 2011 set on the 10th of January.

I tried calling him the other day, but we got cut off. Looks like he's traveling with some lady somewhere.

That's what you said in Post #616 on April 11, 2012. Ha! Hope he takes some of us with him next time. Once the final tally is all added up on this silver proof set race, I hope he comes back and says a few words to us and gives his analysis of the 2010 & 2011 Silver Proof Set mintages.

I'd like to see his analysis of the 2012 silver proof set, which is now sold out. (somewhere around 394000)
I didn't see that coming, but am glad it stopped selling this set at the end of 2012.
They should do this as a matter of course for all coins and sets, IMO. Silver proof quarters and Limited Edition silver proof set are still on sale.

Ok, ummm......I guess I feel like the word got out that Justin Bieber is performing on a different stage just down the street. Anyway, as promised, I will report the sales numbers.
581 was the sales number for the 2011 Silver Proof Set. New total is now 573,973. That is 11,441 sets less than the 2010 sales. The 2012 set saw sales of 3,498. Total is now 393,757. The mint is now saying that's it. The 2012 set is sold out.
Again, there will be 50,000 silver dimes and 50,000 silver halves in the "Limited Edition Silver Proof Sets" that are to be released this year. The dime and half are the keys as stated by Yakpoo and that is a YAK FACT.
Now maybe we can expect bags or rolls of silver dimes and halves being offered by the mint once the Limited Edition sets are sold out. Who knows?

  19. Thanks for the update. I still like my 2010 and 2011 silver proof sets even though the 2012 now has a much lower mintage. :) Who knows what will happen with the 2013 silver proof set? It is anyone's guess. The mint is full of surprises. TC

Well, I found some more numbers. Believe it or not, I have found some more numbers. There were 202 more sets of the 2011 Silver Proof Set sold before they sold out. Final, Final total is now 574,175. Which ended up being 11,239 less than the 2010 total.
