I wish you had one too Elaine. I haven't seen a box for sale without the coins, but if I do, I will let you know. I'm just afraid that they will be scarce, because that's the only thing separating those coins from the other W coins, right?
With the mintage being low on them anyway, it just means the box will be that much more scarce.
Perhaps there will be a few people send them in for grading and will sell the box sepatate.
Good luck, and I'll keep an eye out for one. I'll bet Argento will too.

Well, the charge fell off of my card but the order still shows no cancel box on the Mint site so it's anybody's guess at this point.

I am wondering if the prosperity set -- in addition to the UHR -- were items caught in the middle of warehousing changes and are part of the fulfillment screw ups.

Argento, mine did the same thing because they can only hold a suspend charge for SO long, then they have to let it expire. About 2 days after mine fell off, they hit it with a full hard charge. Good luck bud!

Elaine, where did you see this? On the mint's website, Buffalo still shows as TBD

Me too! I wish they would get on the ball and start selling the Proofs again. I think if everyone knew this was going to happen, they would have said FORGET the Spouses gold, just get on with what's in the plate for now.

My 08' 1/4th ounce W AGE came back from NGC today. MS70! I think the 1/4th AGE should at least catch up to the 1/4th Buffalos in price very soon.

i will not sent anything for slab. i know most likely to get ms-69 and luckily ms-70. ms-69 and ms-70 were so plentiful from NGC. i should said ms-70 for NGC is only about ms-68 to ms-69.

in the near future. every slabbed coin will be reopen to check its grade again.
man will invent a machine that we just insert it and can determine its grade. and every collector should get that machine. it will be standard for us to grade those coins. unless your machine have a problem. but no worry. other machine will take care of your coin.

Thanks Chief, lol I hope I'm right too. I do think that the 1/4th ounce W AGE will become a popular little set to collect, with the 08' being the king.

    Thanks Chief.

I have to thank Elaine for my 2008 1/4 ounce. I sided with her that they would go up, and I think I'm one of the last people to get one!

As far as slabs, I like to keep mine original, unopened in the mint package, cool and dry, never exposing them to air again. I think that taking it out just gives it another chance to go bad on me.

Left my tripod at work and with bad light due to weather, tough to get a decent pic. I'll try next week to come up with something better but here it is, for now. Click for full size.

Hey, that's a great pic! I wish my camera would takes pics that good! Or maybe I should say...If I knew how to take a pic like that.
When I was young, I could wire anything, use a 35mm camera, knew all about electronics, but it's a whole new thing now.
Now I know what my parents went through.
    It happens to everybody................eventually.

    Thanks for the pic!

    Howdy,

I know that I'm not, but I can pass them on to the grand kids. I buy them much of the annual offering from the mint even though they're too young to know what it means.

However, my W mint mark Eagles and buffalos were sent out to get graded in anticipation of being sold some day. The fact that they all got 70's was sheer dumb luck. Two 2006 Buffs - PF70UC, 2007W & 2008W 1/2 oz MS70, 2008 1/4 oz MR70 and 2006W Silver eagles at MS-70 and MS-69. It's the special stash the grand kids don't know about. ;-)

    peace,

    rono

I don't think you'll have any regrets having bought the $5.00 Gold Buffalo seeing how 2008 is the first and last year the mint will ever have the means to mint a 1/10 oz. .9999 buffalo, or any other fractional Au. 24K coin ever again. There is something terrible going on in the land of "PLENTY" What are the chances the mint will NOT complete the 500,000 (2009) silver Lincoln Commemorative Dollars until the latter part of 2010???? Is it just me or is the mint seeming a little short of Au. & Ag.???
