Sometimes posts happen so rapidly that two respond to the same theme. I think the theme in red above is next.

Yay! One of my favorite threads redivivus! Capricorn:

    Roman provincial Æ 20.5mm, 3.78 g.
    Mysia, Parium, AD 253.
Obv: G CORN SUPERA, diademed and draped bust right.
Rev: C. G. I. H. P., Capricorn right, cornucopiae on back; globe between legs (Sear describes as a star, but this appears to be a globe).

Next up, a coin with both a globe AND a cornucopiae!

Here are twinned Arcadius (AD 383-408) fakes. There were several more identical (except for recently applied surface cover) "coins" in the group.

Appears to be: Arcadius AE2 (20 mm) of Constantinople, with the famous "Hand of God" reaching down to crown Arcadius.
GLORIA ROMANORVM, emperor standing holding standard and resting left hand on shield, captive below to left.
    RIC Constantinople 53a.

    Arcadius.

And the story of how I found it, though the reporter made some errors in the retelling. There is also my thread about it.

New theme: coins you personally found, or if you don't have any of those, then coins with a known hoard provenance.

Hey participants, remember the idea of the game. Find a coin that fits the current theme and select a new theme related to that same coin.

I was kidding with George III, there, of course.

    Britannia it is (but ancient).

Don't have any ancient ones here. :(

There are plenty of British ancients. My favorites are the issues of Carausius but the London mint remained active for years afterward. This one is in the name of Maximianus.
