And the same coin (well, not sure of the emperor) overstruck by the Vandals (or such):

Coin pair overstrike made a THIRD coin for me!

I have one if those Hieron II / Sicily Sextans overstrikes also. 2nd Punic War in Sicily. I posted this before:

    RR AE Sextans-Hieron II Overstrike 214-212 BCE S1211 Cr69-6
At a show, a dealer had this labeled as a Janiform head!
It was a Sextans size. @ancientcoinguru helped identify that this was an overstike over an Hieron II Trident. Both are Sextans (Sicily) sized

    Made from:

    Hieron II

Sicily Syracuse Hieron II 275-215 BCE AE20 Poseidon Trident Dolphin

    Plus:

    Sextans

NewStyleKing Beware of Greeks bearing wreaths

This incredibly rare very late post-Sullan New Style appeared on the bay-incredible.These are the original photo's, very crusty.

Hygieia is the personification of personal cleanliness and I gave her a scrub -up and she came out lovely clean and fresh for a gal who is somewhat over 2000 years old.

Interestingly the first magistrate DIOKLES is known to have been a priest which sort of dates the coin, and Diokles To Dey means Diokles for the 2nd time. Indeed there are 3 coin issues of this Diokles so at least we can put them in some sort of order.

Here's a recycled denarius of Faustina struck over a previous issue.

    Faustina Sr, AD 138-141
    Roman AR denarius; 3.83 g, 18.2 mm
Obv: DIVA FAVSTINA, draped bust, right
Rev: AETERNITAS, Fortuna standing left, holding globe and rudder
    Refs: RIC 348; BMCRE 360; Cohen 6; RCV 4577.

If I rotate the reverse 90 degrees counterclockwise, you can see a throne and what I think may be a cornucopiae beneath it. Coming down from Fortuna's face is a roughly spiral-shaped vertical object I think is a goddess's shin:

I postulate it was a CONCORDIA AVG issue of Sabina:

    Another example:

Next: cornucopiae not being held in hand.

Not one but two! And with fillets too! A lovely reverse strike. I'm sure though that you only meant Roman coins!
