Nonsense. Quite a number of presidents had no wife in the White House, including Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson. To imply that a man is successful because of his wife's "sacrifices" is sexist and demeaning to that man's talents, hard work, and sacrifice. I personally don't have a problem with the First Lady coins, though I don't own any.
Heard tell that a lot of the earlier spouse coins wound up in the melting pot so those figures posted above may well be off by a few thousand, but we'll probably never know for sure what the real numbers actually are as nobody kept records for what was sent off to the scrappers........

Its the Goddess Diana, goddess of the hunt. The reverse shows a greyhound. Its a Roman Republican coin.
Hey, spouse's face or president's face, I'm just bored of sticking someone's face on a coin. Especially government officials.
There were only 4 and there is specific legislation that handles how the coins for the FS series are to be handled for those 4 presidents. . These 4 coins make up what has become known as the "Liberty" subset due to the fact the reverse is a copy of a coin minted at the time said president was in office. You are doing quite well for yourself if you acquired those 4 coins at close to cost. I didn't say or imply that a man's success was dependant upon his wife. What I DID say was that these presidents would not have been able to hold and gain that office without a lot of sacrifice from these women. There is nothing sexist about that as it is a simple statement of fact.
I agree with you. The coinage of the 19th century was superior in both subject and design. If anything, modern technology should have resulted in stunningly beautiful coinage, but it is wasted on poor concepts and mediocre artwork.
