I have gone back and forth on the First Spouse series and I actually own a fair number, almost all in the Liberty subset (2 Jefferson's, 2 Jackson's, 11 Van Buren's, 1 Buchannen); however I generally think of these as bullion coins with a slight chance there could be a rarity premium many years from now (however I am not convinced of that).

A few general thoughts:

1. I paid between $660 and $700 for most of mine, so I already have a profit, since just the gold content is worth over $800 with current gold prices. Will these ever get a huge premium (2x, 3x, etc) attached? I sort of doubt it, but who knows, stranger things have happened. I think one of the most limiting factors will be collector demand as most people just don't care about this series and even fewer can afford it (at least that is my impression).
